An exhibition in the form of a interpretative walk relates the glacier’s fascinating history. Every panel along the path presents a particular subject, such as the life of the glacier, the Little Ice Age, the evolution of the glacier, and so on...

The chalet is the departure point for the hike to the Les Pyramides chalet, with a view of the glacier’s ice cascade, the ice-pinnacles and the ice pyramids (1 ½ hours) and La Jonction (4 hours).

• Tour the lake by bicycle

You can even reach the beaches by bicycle just by following the cycle path, one of the most used in France, that follows the eastern bank of the lake over 30 km with a direct access to the beaches.

And it is also a good occasion to admire the landscape without any car because it is a former railway.

Some useful advice to best enjoy your tour of Annecy Lake (distance 40 km, 500 m elevation gain): Set off in the morning, to avoid the heat and traffic. Head clockwise around the lake.

The Salt Mines of Bex (Switzerland)

A few kilometres of this immense labyrinth can be visited. This itinerary takes us through the most spectacular and most characteristic of the various mining techniques used since the first gallery was excavated in 1684, up to the present times.

An audiovisual presentation (in French, German, English and Italian) installed in an ancient reservoir dug out in 1826 as well as an exhibit allow you to relive all stages of the three centuries of history of salt and the mines. Then a small train brings you to the heart of the mine. From there a pedestrian circuit of about one hour allows you to discover the incredible effort put in the underground search for salt springs, or the desalination of rock containing salt, which, at the time, was worth its weight in gold.

Visit time around 1:45
